2003 4.7 - Replacing Radiator

Hey all,

I was told by my local shop that my radiator has a slow leak, this was discovered while they were in the process of changing out the water pump, belts, seals, tensioner, etc...

Is changing out the radiator something a fairly noob mechanic could accomplish? And if so, what should I be aware of going into it? Any tips or tricks? Suggested parts? Any out of the ordinary tools?

To answer my own question. This IS something a noob can do.

+ Drain the radiator completely.

+Be sure to have something under the transmission cooling lines as these will likely leak a little trans fluid.

+ Be sure to have a set of pliers that you can use to open the clamps on the radiator lines. I used a large tongue and groove plier to do this.

+ Generally all you need is a 12mm and 14mm socket and a 6" extension.

+ You will need a little over a galon of fluid I used this from amazon (https://amzn.com/B004SL8568)

+ I got my radiator from the dealership. They wanted like $500 or something stupid like that for an OEM one. But the parts guy was like, "F that, don't buy our OEM. Get this other one for $156." I'm at work and don't have the exact part number. But just call your dealership and have them order one in for you.
