2003 4RUNNER. trip to car wash causes brake failure, alarms and all lights going craz

your right. I was thinking how could it be any different than rain getting under.

I asked if she thought they hit something under car. its raining today so she cant get under it.

she lives about an hour from me so I may have to go over myself

Rain doesn't hit the components at a compressed 2800 PSI...

High pressure water hitting components can get past the normal water barriers...

Yes it was plugged into the obd2 port. It's a data logger but apparently it's known to have caused issues.

finally got back to see what I could do.

I plugged in my older scanner andit found no codes. I cleared it and turned off car and back on and all lights and the annoying beeper was gone.

got in car and lights and warning beeper came back on.

started checking underneath car and found that the power steering hose is leaking. thats what I could tell. the hose that connects to the steering assembly where the steering shaft connects to whatever its called.

now the power steering was leaking a while back and fluid added.

brake fluid level hasnt moved from max fill line .


so now I am wondering, will low fluid make all th is chaos or is that coincedence?


the "snapshot" has n ot been plugged in since all th is started.


we ran the scanner again an d started car and n o beeps buzzers or anything.

went to th e store brak es work and n o issues.


any ideas?

The ODB reader does not recalibrate the traction control's zero point. It turned the code off - but as soon as you drive it comes back on. Yes, your brakes still work but your traction control does not until you recalibrate it. Go around a corner on a wet road a little fast and you won't hear the traction control taking over (irritating br-br-br noise) and you'll feel tires slip. The thread link I provided uses a piece of speaker wire to turn off codes and reset the traction controls zero point setting. A dealer will do this for a $90 charge - but may want to also start replacing stuff.

I never said the traction control needed to be recalibrated. I have the paper and I rigged up a wire to do that if needed but I didnt need it.

we drove the car 2 times for many roughly 20 miles round trip and lights still were off when we stopped.


and after doing lots of reading the tracc off light and the others come on for multitude of reasons so why I am just trying to figure out what the cause was...

my suspects are: the snapshot insurance module that was plugged into the diagnostic port

or

power steering leak.

or

something from car wash.
