2003 4runner with a 3inch lift.. what tires to get?

I am sorry if this question has been asked (I did search and was not sure of the answer). I am getting the 3 inch revtek lift kit put on my 2003 4runner Limited with v-8 and 4wd. What tires should I put on this truck that can still fit on original wheels (rims)? What looks really good, doesn't screw up the MPG too much, and is fairly quiet on the highway, yet semi-aggressive when off roading?

Please help! I am ordering the lift today and was hoping to order the tires from tirerack.com as well. I found an excellent show that can do everything for me.

which original wheels do you have? I'm suspecting 17" right?

I'd say revo's are nice on the road and does pretty well on the trail for light to moderate stuff.
265.70.17 will keep you close to stock.

yes 17s, but won't they look a little goofy with the 3inch lift? I remember about 10 years ago when I lifted my wrangler, and could not afford the tires right away. It looked funny. I understand my 265.65.17 tires look beefy, but should I maybe go 75 instead of 70? Thanks for the quick reply!!

not sure what kind of tires are available in 265.75.17's

I know they have 265.70.17 but since 17's are a bit harder to find you'll have to shop around.

Look into 275's too btw but I'd say 285's will rub unless you plan to trim the affected areas.

Also, I saw your truck on Yote tech. HOLY SHIT! I remember you posting here a while back when you first bought your 4runner. Man did you change it! It looks AMAZING! Can I ask about what all these mods set you back? Your setup is almost exactly what I plan on doing. Trying to spend under $10k if possible...

although I don't recommend putting 285's on stock, I've seen people do it. I would say if you plan to use 285's just pick up some cheap 50 buck wheels (not much more if you think about it).

my 4runner has gone thru a significant change. It's version 2.0 for now and hopefully it'll stay at version 2.x for along time

Mods were not cheap. Luckily I had a lot of support for the community and vendors to make this a successful adventure. I'm not sure how much this really set me back actually since I haven't really seen all of the bills come to me yet! doh!

Go to the top of this page (4th Gen) and look at the lift/tire sticky - it has any and all information you could need for fitting tire sizes with various lift & tire combinations. It will be extremely helpful and answer your question much quicker.

I'm pondering the same things the OP is thinking about, and I'm about 99% set on going with wrangler duratracs in 285/70/17, I'll need to trim up fron't, but they will fit. I also plan on keeping my stock wheels, so why do you not recommend stock wheel? ( they have to be better than any 50$ wheels you are going to find anywhere)

Forgot to mention: with 285s.. you will need wheel spacers... or aftermarket UCAs

Wheel spacers and UCA's wont hurt especially with Duratracs. My lightweight 285's didnt need new UCA's but the spacers helped.
