2003 LTD wheel question

Hi everyone, long time reader, first time starting a thread so please lmk if I could do things a bit differently.

As it turns out, the stock 17" wheels that came on my 2003 LTD T4R (that I purchased secondhand) are extremely corroded on the inner rim and no longer seal well against the tires. Additionally, the tires are weather checked and needing replacements.

So I went to my favorite tire store (discount tire) and set myself up to drop ~$2k on a set of 5 wheels and tires.

So long story short, the new wheels coming in are a -6 offset, and the stock wheels are a +30. Beyond potentially needing to modify the inner mudflat to avoid rubbing is there anything else that I should worry about as far as long term wear on other components (I.e. U joints, bearings, etc.) since the offset is so extreme compared to stock.

The discount tire technical details indicates that "caution should be used when installing and modifications may be necessary" but they don't say that these wheels should be avoided.

So ultimate question: has anyone installed similarly offset wheels and had additional wear and tear fur to the new wheels? Or am I just being paranoid?

I run zero offset wheels in the winter (Enkei RT6). I have 255/70R17 Blizzak snows mounted. The tread sits flush with the outer edge of the mud flaps. The sidewall bulge sticks out slightly beyond the fender. Any more offset or wider tires will stick out well beyond the wheel wells. Your proposed setup will definitely stick out beyond the wheel wells. You may not care and it may not be illegal in your area. I don't want stones kicked up into the rocker panels and it is illegal here to have tires sticking out farther than the fenders. I have very minor rubbing in reverse with the wheels at full lock. Not enough to do anything about.
I have only put on 20K miles so I have not noticed any wear short of a torn CV boot and that can't be attributed to tire/ rim choice.
I run +15 rims off an FJ in the summer with 265/70R17 (Cooper AT3). No rubbing, even when backing up with wheels turned to lock. I did not trim or adjust anything. My suspension is completely stock.
Post pictures when you get them installed.

Tangent rambling:
I have read about a lot of corrosion issues on stock rims. Oddly enough, my stock wheels (04) are in near perfect condition. I stopped using them 1 year ago, just hanging on to them so that when it comes time to replace the 04, I can put back the stock rims. I am always looking for an 09 limited V8 in blue. 6 months so far and not a one.
