Reversing, full lock on the turn, compression on the front spring... I don't think you can significantly "widen the stance" without a lift, trim, or rub. A wider stance makes the tire sweep across a longer arc.
Post your wheel offset and help me understand

Are there any likely warranty claims that would be refused because of a properly executed BMC?

The only thing I can think of is it’d be less prone to rusting at the mount depending on the spray coat after the weld. Lol
Thank you, I appreciate the information. Definitely going to lift the 4Runner. Already have the fender tuck, but would do more if needed. I usually remove the mud flaps, so I don’t need those either. I just didn’t want to perform a BMC, but I guess it’s not the end of the world if you go through a quality company…..but there lies the issue in Illinois……not many great shops unfortunately.

Go to a 4Runner or Tacoma meet and check out people’s vehicles, and if you see one done how you like it, ask the owner where they got it done.

it wasn't an insult like you took it. I'm just saying, facts are facts. You can buy a jeep and run 35's with just a lift. mine is brodozed to hell, I even have the front higher (although it wasn't intentional, the lift just settled that way).
personally, I have a 2.5" lift, the SCS -38 F5's, and 275's. I had to cut the hell out of my front rocker plastics and move the fender liner like 3" forward to fit the 275's, and a very aggressive BMC. If I went to 285, I would need to do the pinch weld and UCA's.
I don't have the money at the moment, but I've decided to say **** it and go for 34's. 11mpg here we come!
No worries, my apologies. It’s just hard to tell a Toyota guy to buy a Jeep. LOL. Not that there aren’t any great Jeeps out there, there are some pretty sick setups. I just prefer the Toyota’s,
I wish I had the balls to do the BMC, just worried about warranty and a good shop in this area. I am sure the dealership will already turn me away for a lift and UCA’s for sure, kinda sucks! But, that’s how they are out here.
Your 34’s will be look amazing for sure. Gas mileage is tough with the mods, but my FJ was even worse. I swear there was a hole in the tank!

i'm on my second 4runner. My family members all drive toyotas. if i get rid of my 4runner it'll be for a 2021 Tundra. BUT, Jeeps are easier to mod big and a better choice for hardcore wheeling.

Now on 35s (still have mostly my entire wheel liners and fully connected to front bumper... With WI winter+salt I dont like the idea of exposing much if I can)
Each time requires more cutting. Would say it didnt get "serious" until 305s. Thats where your cutting a lot of bumper, rear cab work is def needed.
