2003 Toyota 4R Limited VSC/TRAC

Hello,

I have a 2003 T4R with 200k on it, My ENGINE/VSC OFF/VSC TRAC lights are on. My mechanic thinks its the CAT Conv. which cost > $2000.

I have tried to disconnect the battery, the lights come back on again. The Code refers to some parameters over threshold?

Any advise!!

had same problem last year. Bought an aftermarket manifold/cat for under $500 from ebay new. The ticking went away...but I now get a code for 02 issue (new sensor) on that side. I bought an obd2 reader/eraser and I just erase it when it comes on. Annoying, but better than the $2k raping Toyota tried to do.

I'm not sure on this one but i'd suggest posting the actual codes so someone on here can help with figuring it out.

It's the same thing I have. Mine has stopped (for the most part, it still comes on intermittently) since I replaced the factory muffler. I was told toyota's are notorious for air leaks in the o2 sensor, the nuts rust which creates an air gap. I haven't been ambitious enough yet, but my goal is to get underneath and feel for the leaky one, then smear it with some JB weld.

This is the first I have ever heard of this "notorious" problem, but its an interestingly plausible explaination.

ok, scanned mine yesterday..had 2 emissions related codes.......tgihtened the gas cap, and cleared the codes......all the lights are off now.

so that makes me think that the first step should be scanning the car....if the codes ra e emissions related related..then its probablly a loose gas cap

What if only the VSC/TRAC OFF lights are lit, CEL is not lit. This is the scenario with mine right now. My Ultragauge is showing no engine codes. Took it to Autozone and they said they will not be able to pull brake system codes.

The lights are not on when I start the truck. As soon as I start rolling the lights come right on. I'm 99% sure it is my drivers side rear wheel speed sensor, but would like the codes to confirm that. Don't want to do the "change parts until the light goes out" thing.

I accidentally struck the drivers side-rear wheel speed sensor leads during the lift installation. The lead itself looks ok but obviously something is wrong.

Am I stuck having to take this thing to the dealer to let me know what sensor it is?
