The post could have been more clear in what you wanted. But I am assuming you're asking if the problem you are describing (the rear hatch pulls itself closed and then pops open after a few seconds) is normal and what can be done to repair this issue.

Assuming that is the question, I can't give you a definitive answer other than, "It ain't s'posed ta do dat." I need some more details of what exactly is it doing?

Is the motor actually pulling the hatch closed and secured and THEN popping open on its own. Or does the hatch try to pull closed but eventually just gives up?

I've had similar problems with my rear hatch. You go to close the rear and the motor starts to pull in, it sounds like its closing, but then you give a tug on the hatch and its not locked. I've found when the latching mechanism gets dirty or rusted its hanging up and not latching properly. There is a locking mechanism on the right side of the latch that is supposed to catch when it pulls in but it is not because its stuck. Either try spraying it out at a car wash(if you can) or spray it with some WD-40 and try using a small pick to clean out the right side a little bit. There was a diagram floating around on the site. try searching you might find it.

Mine just started doing that. A thorough brushing with WD and a smaller size dish washing type brush worked well to clean all areas I could get to, top and bottom. Soaked it pretty good too. That helped greatly and back to normal!

Reminds me I'm going to hit it again now..
