2004 4Runner Side mirrors upgrade

hello everyone
has anyone ever been able to a upgrade a 2004 4Runner with the side mirrors of a 2012 series 4Runner like the image below

Let me know because it would be a nice upgrade. Or maybe the side mirrors of the 2012 Lexus GX 460

Yes, it has been done. I know there was a thread on here a couple of months ago regarding this very subject. It's possible to do it, but if memory serves, the top "mirror" portion of the gen 5 mirrors had to be combined to the gen 4 bases in order to make it compatible. Anyway, you can do a forum search for it. My observation was that it looked like too big of a pain in the ass to be worth it. I would rather put my dollars and focus on a rear bumper/tire carrier. I think it has not been done with a 5th gen mirror. But I know first hand that they make a new 4th Gen replacement with turn signals built in to them that would require painting and wiring. [MENTION=50507]CookieRoe[/MENTION] bought a set and I had my mirrors apart so we test fitted them to see if it will work. And it does.

Thanks for the pictures. your truck looks great. Do you have a link for the replacement mirrors that are available for the Gen4 4Runner that inluudes the turn signal like the 2012 4Runner?

preacher35 said it would be too much of a pain to have that done when you combine Gen5 mirrors with the base of the Gen4.
