2004 Gas Door Release Issue

pls i need a link to where i can buy the complete door assy or the spring, my hinge is broken and the spring missing too.
checked on rockauto and amazon.. no hits

Not sure why the link is not working for you I just clicked on it and it goes to the website for the spring with no issue, must be sonething to do with you being on the Darkside of the moon :noidea:.

I was able to find both the spring and door simply by doing a search for 200(whatever year you have) Toyota 4Runner..... fuel door spring and then.... fuel door, no problem with getting many hits, just make sure you check once you go to a site that it's indeed for your T4R as you may get hits for other toyota models when doing such a search, I even check most all of the links until I found you the least exspensive one, don't know how I could be more helpful to you other than buying the parts and then sending them to you for free!

So... the best I can do for you now is give you the part numbers....

I have this problem and the black pin on the right side is stuck in and not protruding out. How can I fix this? Just purchased the T4R yesterday.

The hinge I see in the pic.... you ever hear of them rusting and breaking?? Mine did... Do you happen to know where I can find one?

You can't just buy the hinge, you have to buy the whole door which has the hinge attached to it and then you have to rivet it in place, you may also need a new spring, the new door will need to be painted to match your paint.

You may be able to find a new door cheaper by searching the part number, or maybe find one at a savage yard, take cordless drill and drill bit with you so you can drill out the OEM rivets.

Yes pulling the black lever should prompt the gas door to pop open slightly. The spring tab in the picture is what i think was probably missing from yours. If it's not working correctly it might not be sprung open enough. Is what I'm pointing to in the first pic the same as what you got? There is also the release pin that is to the right of the gas tank which is what allows the spring to open the door, is that there? My spring measures 11/32 from the flat edge of the plastic piece FYI.

Your eight year old post helped me fix my gas door release issue. Went along with putting a card or something in the door then releasing with the lever for the door to open for over a year. I checked the lever under the dash and everything looked good. I opened the door and pulled the spring out just a bit and it works fine now.
