Hey all-

Sorry for my first post being a cry for help ;-)

So I just for a 2004 4Runner Limited V6-

It was a deal... so there are a few issues here and there.. The only big one being that it only came with a Valet key. So! I got bent over at the dealer to get a Master key cut and the computer reprogrammed but that's how it goes.

The issue is the Keyless Entry. I grabbed a few fobs on amazon. Master key in hand, no problems right?

Basically I just cannot get it into programming mode. I've followed these directions to a T..

I've checked the fuses, disconnected and reconnected the battery but for the life of me.. just cant get it into programming mode. I cant rule out human error cause we're all a little dumb sometimes.. but I think im doing everything right.

Any suggestions, advice, things to try before I call up a locksmith?

Thanks!

As for the 4Runner. It's totally rad... Honestly I'm not sure if I'll ever buy a different type of car again.

Some years back I had a 97 Corolla Touring Wagon when I was living in Japan. The 4Runner granted a lot taller and heavier... drives just like that car. Its crazy familiar. Brings me back!!

hello,

Your T4R is perfectly okay. You are just not going through the procedure fluidly enough. I just got a T4R too, a V8 and didn't come with a keyless fob. I got a fob from Ebay and I actually went through hell before I could program it.

However, with the benefit of hindsight, I discovered it is actually because I was not fluid with the movements. please click on the link below and you will be cool.

I just used the exact same instructions to program key fobs on my 04 limited, worked perfect. Just go through it smoothly and it should work. I will say I felt pretty dumb opening and closing the door in my driveway. Lol
