2004 SR5 Blown Head Gasket - Toyota Recall

Hi -

Like other posters, I've experienced a blown head gasket relatively early in the life of the vehicle (145k miles). I reached out to Toyota's customer care directly and they indicated that they do not have a history of blown head gaskets for the model.

Has anyone reached out to Toyota directly on this issue too? My call wasn't too informative - I did get a brief lecture on using Toyota dealer services. For others that have reached out, did Toyota share any additional information or history of the issue?

I created a history case a Toyota via their customer service line (1-800-331-4331). Not sure if it'll help, but if we can can get enough visibility on this - maybe Toyota will help out.

I have spoken with a few FSTs and they seem to be unaware of this issue. I have heard a few excuses (at least that's how they sound to me) trying to explain away the superseded part number and such.

Bottom line, I am encouraging all members to have a dealership at least look at the vehicle for diagnostics and record it on the Toyota side for when they call in to Toyota. But I am not hopeful it will be taken care of in the form of a TSB or recall.
