2004 V6 automatic vs. 2005 V6 automatic?

Thinking about picking up another 4Runner, this time a 4th gen V6. I'm partial to 5-speed autos to 4-speed autos but if mileage and performance is about the same the 4-speeds are cheaper.

I've read a few complaints and concerns about the 5-speed automatic. Is it really worth it to spend the extra money for a 2005?

There are times I wish I had a 5 Speed for the extra gear/different ratios, but honestly the 4 speed holds it's own. Plus 4th gear is a super low ratio so highway cruising is a breeze. Even at 90

The 5sp gives you an additional starting gear; but has a shorter rear end gear.

At highway (70mph) the 5speed is the engine only turning 71 rpms less. The 5 speed does give you a "quicker" start off the line.

Excellent info, interesting. I can see how the fuel economy wouldn't be much different.

Think I'm going to spring for a facelifted Limited.
