2004 v8 Limited door ajar light

Hi, my brother's 4runner's door ajar light stays on all the time and the running board lights don't turn off, so it's been draining the battery and needs a boost every few days. We checked the door sensors and the hatch sensor and still cant diagnose what the issue is. The doors don't lock with the compustar because it thinks the doors aren't close.
Has this happened to anyone here, and if so, what did you do to fix it?

At the bottom of this thread, there are several links to threads about this same issue, but for 3rd gens. Maybe the solution is the same for 4th gens.
