2005 4 Runner Driver seat re locate

Howdy all, I really like my 4 runner, but it has a problem. The 4 Runner was not built for a tall person with long legs(36 inch inseam). I went out look to trade in my 4Runner on something with more leg room. Most of the vehicles just did not compare, they had leg room ,but that was it.
I pulled the seat to find out what it would take to make this seat work for me.It starts with some 2"x3/8 x20" steel,Just a little over kill.

I lined up the legs , drilled holes, attached with 1/4 20 grade 8 bolts with nylock nuts. I put them in the 4 runner for test fit.
Once it was tested, i pulled them apart for paint

Then I mounted them back on the seat


I put it back in the 4 Runner, it gives me 4 more inch's of leg room, and it sits 3/4 of an inch higher(I really did not need that) it still moves forward for the shortest person.

well thats one way to do it.

Interesting, i modified my brackets but didnt extend them. I too have a 36 inseam and 6'8" with a sunroof so i share your pain.

Landtank on IH8MUD.com made something similar for 80 series Land Cruisers. Seems like all the Japanese built Toyota trucks seems to be lacking in leg room. His extended seat rail brackets might fit on the 4Runner rails. I'm not sure... I'm not that tall where I need them and haven't actually seen the brackets in person. I believe he also owns a 4th gen 4Runner in addition to his cruisers. Might want to look him up.

I think he's also in the New England area.

I need to do something like this as well. I'm 6'6" and 36" inseam, luckily my 4runner doesn't have a sunroof so my seat could go higher and not be much of a problem. My 2 year old may not like the reduced space when she sits behind me though...

With the seat going this far back, it will go up much higher, that is as long as you have power seats.
