Linex'ing the interior.
First let me start by saying I will see this project through to completion even though there are many obstacles to overcome here. ALSO, I will NOT be using the stuff you buy in a can and apply yourself. Nor will I be using Rhino liner. I will be taking my car to the Linex place down the road that did my Duramax bed and several other things for me.
Why am I doing this? Down and dirty, I left my sunroof open for about 5 minutes during some heavy rain. Stuff got wet. Musty smell really didn't go away. Decided to go nuts. Is it overkill? Yes.
Problems (so far)
1. These black rubber gasket things in the pictures are all over the place. They are easy to pull up and they look like they just cover up bolts that mount the tub to the frame. I'm thinking if I pull them up and have them Linex underneath they SHOULD seat right back in place just fine. I'm not positive though.
2. There is this wavy, old-school looking, sound deadening crap up front and it's a pain to chisel up. However, I don't want to Linex over it. Maybe try and sand it down since the whole tub will be lightly sanded anyway? Any ideas what this stuff is?
3. The black vents that lead from the dash down under the seats will have to be relocated. I don't know if I should attempt to cut the off level with the floor (more detailed pictures to come) or see if they unclip further up into the dash.
4. Not really a problem but I will have to relocate a few wires and stuff which doesn't look too menacing but any input is valuable here.
5. The caulk like stuff, mostly around the wheel wells in the rear, can I have them sand that up or should I try and leave that stuff?

Ok, let us start addressing some problems.
1. The black AC/HEAT vents that run from behind the dash down to the floor and under the driver and passenger seats. I'm assuming these keep the rear passengers' feet warm/cool. (The black vent clips into the white part up underneath the center of the dash)
These things pop right off about ankle/shin height up the center console. I am not going to try and somehow still route these back to the rear passengers. The driver and passenger will just have a little extra air on their toes.
ALSO, these yellow wires will have to be re-routed down the center console by the shifter.
2. Spoke to Linex on the phone today and told them my dilemma with the "caulk-like" stuff in the rear area and the factory wavy looking sound deadening crap in the front. They said if I can smooth that stuff out lightly you won't be able to tell once the Linex goes over it. SO, I'm going to try and smooth it out with a 90 degree die grinder or a 4" grinder with a very fine flap disc on it. If you don't know what a flap disc is, look it up. They are the bee's knees when dealing with metal.

Thanks guys. Been doing a lot of research and cleaning still. The previous owners must have had a lot of kids! haha
So my plan was to put the door sills back on, covering up the drain tubes and wiring that run down the sides of the car. The more I look at it though, I want to route that stuff above the headliner so I can leave the door sills off and not have to worry about people tripping on my wires when they get in and out of the vehicle.
So currently I am staring at my vehicle waiting for the gears to start turning in my head.

Boring stuff for the next few weeks. Re-routing wire looms! All the blue tape spots are holes that will be plugged (welded) before Linex. I am removing all of the white plastic clips that mount the wire looms to the sheet-metal floor because it makes the wires a little less rigid and easier to re-route (and they serve no purpose anymore).
FYI this has turned into something that I will not be able to return to stock form which, after 130,000 miles, is ok because I'll drive this car till it takes a dump on me.
Here is the rubber grommet things that lift up to give access to body mount bolts. Some of them are not covering anything up; you can just pull it up and see the street below you.

Possible help for anyone that has had their rear window washer fluid stop working.
This hose starts at the washer fluid bottle under your hood. It leads down by the front passenger's right foot and runs the length of the right side of the car (as you're driving). It runs through the headliner at the very back and up underneath your spoiler to the nozzle.
I didn't even know this existed because mine wasn't working when I bought the vehicle apparently. It took me forever to figure out what this hose was because I assumed I didn't have a washer fluid nozzle at the rear.
Mine in particular, is clogged somewhere before the hose enters the vehicle. I haven't torn it all apart yet.

About 80% of the wiring will be ran above the headliner, once I am ready to drop it. A lot of this will require wire extends to give me enough length to do what I want to do.
The fuel pump access door thing (I'm pretty sure that's what this is) is not something I really want to try and re-route so I may just cover those wires with some durable wire looming (not the plastic stuff).
The other wires that can't be re-routed are the ones that lead to all the SRS crap under the seats. However they are pretty much out of the way anyway.
In an ideal world I'd like to not have any wires touching the floor, but I doubt I can make that happen.

Yeah you'll probably end up with a few necessary ones on the floor. But they should stay out of sight

A little update here. I haven't bailed on the project yet haha.
My my wire extends will require two things: wire and soldering.
I've been practicing soldering on scrap wire and I'm still terrible at it. I am also trying to locate a salvage 4runner so I can pull the interior wire harness out of it and match up the same color wires that MY 4runner has. No luck so far.

old thread, need a little help.
so i removed all my cars to do some clean up after water got into the rug.
i want to know if it will trigger any cel, since both front seats are disconnected, and i intend to install only the drivers seat , so i can drive the truck to work tomorrow, while the rug dries.
