2005 Front Windshield

Ok,

Obviously the front windshield and the front drivers and passenger side windows have some kind of coating on them. Does anyone here know if there is infact something special on them just for the 4Runner or is this all Toyota Glass. I am asking b/c after 2 months i already have a huge crack in my window and i would like to have this glass with the coating. Toyota has no clue what im talking about. They say the glass comes with no special coating on it. So if someone can please give me the part number or some info on this i would appreciate it. Before i order just regular glass i wanted to ask this.

There is no special coating on any 4Runner windshield that I'm aware of.

Some late 3rd gen and all 4th gen 4Runners have a ceramic coating on the outside rear view mirrors, the front seat side windows and the rear (hatch) window. This coating causes water to bead up, much like Rainex.

I've read that the reason the windshield isn't coated is that the wiper blades would damage the coating in a relatively short time.

i believe there is indeed a coating. it makes the rainwater bead up.
