2005 Sport / Xreas need tires & maybe lift

Title says it all... need to get tires in the next week or so and I have a 2005 Sport with Xreas. Probably want to keep the Xreas because I really like the ride (most of the time) except when I bottom out over speed bumps... . If I go with a leveling kit 3/2 or 2/1 what size tire can I expect to be able to run without rubbing using the stock 17" rims? I would like to get a set of the Goodyear Wranger Duratrac's. I just put the same tires and Level 8 rims on my 99 4Runner and it looks great. Went from a 16" to a 17" rim on the 99'. The 99' 4runner is silver and the rims are black...looks very good. My 2005 is the salsa red (believe that is what its called).

Xreas with daystar 2.5 kit back when I had it.
285 trail grapplers and 1&1/2 inch bolt on spacers to clear ucas in front. To fit a 285 you need to trim up front.

how much did you have to trim to fit those?

Really just the plastic up front. I would find a thread where it shows how to just push the fender liner in. I just cut all the plastic about 2-3 inches and took off the front mud flaps

If you're bottoming out with Xreas, I suspect that it isn't working and needs to be replaced. People who know more than me can chime in. But I sure don't have those issues in my rig.

Still need an idea of what I can fit (tire size) with stock rims (17") and and leveling kit.

I have 285s also. Did the exact same thing as stated above. Worked great!
