2005 Sport

I have a 2005 Sport and it has ~120K miles on it now. The XREAS suspension is sagging real bad, looks like a low rider. I am pondering a lift. It is my wifes ride so no off-road other than beach or mild trails.

So should I replace XREAS or get a mild lift?

I was thinking mild OME since I have an OME on my FJ and love it. Is it tricky swapping out the XREAS and replacing with a lift?

I have not done it to my Runner yet, but have done a fair amount of research on the process. It's pretty much the same as replacing non-Xreas except you have to drain the hydraulic fluid from the current set up. After removal, some people leave the old lines attached to the frame, and some remove them. Other than that.... pretty straight forward. There are a few good write ups on the forum of the process.

Good choice IMHO, no need for a lift - a couple jack stands do just fine.

With the cost of replacing XREAS I just lifted mine. You could do the FJ spring swap and I hear that is fairly inexpensive

I have the same rig and mine were shot too. I just installed Billistein 5100s last night set on the highest setting with a daystar leveling kit. I love them and the ride.

It's not necessary to drain any fluid. I recently removed my XREAS. There are disconnects on each shock as well as at the pumps mounted to your side frame rails. It's tricky and mildly frustrating, but well worth it. I put in a full Icon system from what it would have cost to replace XREAS. A world of difference...highly recommend replacing it. Lots of options for any budget.
