2005 V8 Towing?

Im looking at buying a 2005 4.7 V8, 2WD, 4runner to tow my enclosed motorcycle trailer. The trailer only weighs 3,800 lbs loaded with the bikes but it has quite a bit of wind resistance. It is a 7x12 V nose trailer. By looking at the HP and Torque #'s for the 4.7 it should be able to tow it easily, but I know from experience some other vehicles I have used to tow this trailer with have struggled at times. As an example a 2001 Chevy PU with a 5.3 had a bad time with it against a headwind. It was just was down on power and got terrible mileage, only about 7mpg at 70 mph. My 2001 Explorer with a 4.0 V6 pulls it almost as well.

So anyway, I would appreciate towing experiences with this engine in a 4Runner,

I used my tacoma with a v6 to tow heavy lexus cars, jeeps, toyotas. not much issue. It was rated for 6500 lbs.
The v8 4runner (havent towed with it yet) is rates for 7k I beleive. you got plenty of power.

I have a 2005 V8 that I use to tow my 18' flat front box trailer out to the desert and back all the time (~4000lbs, a few hundred miles). I usually don't go above 65mph, but I rarely have problems pulling hills. I can usually feel the wind, but with a shorter v-nose you should have no problem whatsoever. Also, for what it's worth, I've never gotten less than 11mpg on a round trip.

Going won't be the problem. Stopping will be the problem. Make sure you've got trailer brakes and a good controller in the cabin with you.

You will have plenty of power I have a 05 V8 and tow a 19' boat all the time no issues, as stated above braking would be more of a problem check your brakes
