Hey guys I just bought the iPod compatable 06 Scion HU on ebay for $100.
The only problem is is that I do not believe it actually comes with the cable that connects the iPod to the HU. Does anyone know where I can get one??

Pirate,

I also just purchased the 2006 Scion iPod Stereo (mine has the 3 knobs) and was able to locate the factory Scion iPod kit thru Steve at Partznet.com. He charged me $70 and shipped it in a day! The new problem is the wiring harness between the radio and the iPod jack itself. I'm missing about 4 feet of wire???

I have a call back into Steve (his number is 800-825-7128 x5), but have a feeling this wiring is part of the stock electrical and may be pre-wired. I can't imagine how much they'd want for the whole harness?

If I make any headway, I'll post back with part numbers. Steve was great and did order a few extra iPod connection kits if you want one!

Funny you should refer to this....I'm in there right now and on the phone with Steve at Partznet.com. Thanks for your help.

Have you found a solution yet?

I'm considering getting the Scion +iPod HU and would like to see someone actually get it to work in a 4Runner before I shell out for it.

Thanks!

Just to update this i guess, since it was my request, I now have all the info on it, and I too have been monitoring that post on scionlife. I plan to make the wiring harness sometime after christmas, and if rmischle doesnt get to it first then i will let you guys know how it works out.

Just won a '06 Scion HU w/ iPod on eBay. Now my problem is sorting out which cables and harnesses and all that I need to hook up my iPod AND my Bazooka (10" Amped RS10A-hp) to the damned deck! HELP!!!

your going to need the scion factory wiring harness for the bazooka which you can get at your dealer i think it is like $50, and you are going to need the iPod wiring which isnt available yet.
you can follow this link on scionlife to find out more info on the ipod wiring.

what about that other adaptor? the one that connect to the iPod's dock port... can't remember the name right now... I'm a little drunk... heh... what's your 2

nope, that is 22 pin with wires going to 10, the one we need looks similar, but is 16 pin with wires going to 13 of the pins. i still just need to be able to find the pinouts, the guy on scionlife said he had them, but hasnt been on in a while :(

i wish we could just get the part somewhere, even if i could just get one, i know i could duplicate it for all you guys, in fact i could prolly make a mint on ebay with everyone else who prolly wants this.

well there are three cables needed to make this work, 1 is not available to us, and the other two i am assuming we all have. the tow part numbers you put i am assuming, although i have no idea, are for the two parts we have.

Hmmmmmm,

How in the HECK does a highly respect mfgr such as Toyota Corporation, come out with a HU that has the capatiablity to hook up with the *hottest* mobile recording device on the market today "Ipod" and then DO NOT produce the wiring for the damn hookup!!
 :bs:

I am pretty sure that when they desinged the Scion none of the engineers were waisting time worrying if a 4 Runner owner would take the radio from a Scion and install it.

So the '06 Scion Ipod ready HU is not a direct plug in for our 4th gen 4runners? (I'm talking about the HU with two knobs not one, FACTORY PART # 08600-21802)

The people selling the deck state that it fits all '06 Scion's, so if it fits all the '06 Scions and the one knobbed '06 is a direct swap for us doesn't that mean this one must be also?

Personally I don't care that much about the Ipod dock at this time--haven't even bought a friggin Ipod yet, but will someday, but I would like to get this HU so I can control an Ipod when I do get one. That way I don't have to change HU's again later. So if it's just the Ipod part that everyone's having a hard time with I wouldn't care as long as the steering wheel controls work and I'm able to hook up my JL amp etc I'd be happy :)
