It's been a busy few weeks getting ready for our Canyonlands tour. I went ahead and installed the following:
Fox 2.5 Remote Resi with DSC Front
Fox 2.5 Tundra Remote Resi with DSC Rear
Icon Overland Springs
Extended rear brake lines
Oil Change
Mevotech lower control arms
SPC lower cam bolts
CBI Rear bumper with swingout, hi lift, jerry cans
RCI skid plates re-painted dark grey
I'm pretty stoked about the outcome. It's been 6 years of building, and never did I imagine having all these tools to go out and explore.
I'd recommend the Icon overland springs for those with a rear bumper, they seem to carry the weight very nicely. The Fox 2.5's are everything I thought my radflo's should be. I'm still deciding if these duratracs are going to last, or if I plan on upsizing to 34's. Its surprisingly difficult to decide whether fuel economy or beefy tires are a better option.
Wednesday we head out to Moab for 130+ miles of dirt...Hurrah Pass>Chicken Corners>Lockhart Basin>Elephant Hills> Bobbys Hole> Beef Basin loop with a few buddies. I can't wait.:target:

Regarding the Icon Overland springs, yes, these would be way too stiff and too high to run for very long without the rear bumper weight. I ran them for 2 weeks without a bumper, and found the springs 'jiggled' without weight on them.
With the bumper, spare tire, etc...the Icon Overlands ride very nice actually, and still gave me about 2.5-3 inches of rear lift.

Thanks for that piece of advice. I don't really have a rear bumper in my plans yet, due to still building up my Tacoma again at the same time. I'll have to stick with normal weight load coils. I only have about a 100lbs in the back at all times. Not sure if that will be enough to smooth out the ride. But I'm thinking it could sag the rear abit with normal coils. I might just have to deal with a stiffer ride.

So after this trip, I got a good feel for the new suspension and bumper set up. I'd have to say, I am super stoked on the outcome. The Fox 2.5 with DSC are just plush, stable, and quiet. The Icon Overland springs handle the weight of the rear in a similiar fashion - everything seems pretty buttery yet stiff. I now have the ability to on the fly adjust my dampening, and adjust for the weight of camping gear in the back with the DSC. Pretty slick.
The 33.4 inch Duratracs also performed well in all conditions - even with the 35,000 miles I have on them. From highway, to snow over the pass, to dirt, to rocks, mud, sand - they are a great all terrain tire. I was a bit nervous during this trip I might get another sidewall cut, but they held their own with no complaints. I also noticed this - my two friends had the more desirable large tires...295/70's and 285/75's...yes, they look and performed awesome, but they rub. The 295s cause the Tacomas fenders to be pulled off, and the 285s seemed to rub the rear bumper of the 4runner CBI. The 275/70/18's I have seemed to have similiar heights, but tuck better within the wheel wells with zero rubbing. (285/75's will probably be my next tire though hahahaha)

Super clean build man! I just joined the 4runner family with an 06 limited 4wd that i scooped up with 62k on the clock. looks almost identical to yours stock- gray, color keyed and 18in wheels.
i'm actually moving up to the boulderish area this summer and plan on replicating some of the trips you've posted on this thread!

These were powder coated a graphite grey, and have held up excellent over the past 6 years I've had them.

Thanks I think I'll try that color in spray paint. I was thinking about getting new wheels but yours have made me rethink that.

I'm "inheriting" some 33" Duratracs that have seen only a couple trail trips over large rocks, one (now the spare) has a deep gash on the sidwall. The rest have badly chunked out tread blocks. I got them for a great deal so can't complain too much, but am a little hesitant to keep off-roading with them. Glad to see yours are holding up though.

Absolutely love your setup mate. Fellow Colorado guy here. My 2008 Urbanrunner is still pretty stock unfortunately besides the CVT RTT and awning. Adding my extra battery and solar for the fridge/batteries soon. Everything is so expensive!
May I ask how many miles you usually get on a tank of gas? I'm guessing your fuel tank is the same size as mine. I ask because I'm only getting on average about 340 or so and mine is still stock, I can't imagine how bad it gets with a lift, heavy bumpers etc.

I wonder if I saw you yesterday near Home Depot. Black with CVT tent on top? You flashed your lights at me.
With my V8; I think I only get about 250-275 miles a tank/14.5 miles average mpg. I use to get about 18-22 stock. I think the hit comes from a lot of weight, roof rack, and bigger tires for sure.

Nope, not me haha. Mine's blizzard pearl white. Oh right you have the V8, that's less as it is, but yeah I figured if I were to beef up mine I'd take a big hit. Would love to get out together sometime!

Sweet ride! I have an 08 sr5 and was thinking of going with bilstein 5100's all around with the fronts set at 2.5 and getting sway a way 1.5 springs for the back. I love the look of your ride from your first post. I have a question though about tires. I was thinking of going with 275/65/17 and I noticed you said you did a 1" body lift and body mount chop, were these necessary to fit the tires or more just for looks and future plans? I love the look of wide rubber!
