Nevermind, I did some reading, it was page 5 I believe where you answered the same question. You've taken your rig on some sweet trails. I'm getting the itch to go now. I see you added coil overs, were they set at the same height as when you had the day stars before the body lift and 33's? Also with the 275s and spider tracks, would I need a body mount chop at that height (2.5 in front and 1.5 in back) or just the usually removal and trim job?

With the radflo coilovers, i was running about the same 2.5/1.5 lift as the daystar set up.

With the 275/65/18, you don't need a body lift of body mount chop. just remove the mudflaps

It wasnt until the 275/70/18 that you would start thinking about the body mount chop. the 1 inch body lift was just a cheap way to gain some more clearence

Yes, in a 275/70/18. I'll keep those for winter.

Good question. I wanted to run a bigger tire, and switching back to a 17 was the most economical way. Plus there is more sidewall on a 17, although I loved those 18 limiteds.

So far - I love the size, perfect for this lift height with the tall and narrow.

Noise - slow rumble up to 10mph, hums on highways

I don't plan on running these in the Colorado winters, keeping the Duratracs for snow. Hopefully hitting the trails soon to see how they compare offroad.

Final mod - getting the Doug Thorley headers installed today. I'm really hoping this truck gets nice and quiet up in the engine bay after this. The ticking is ridiculous.

But really I'm just jealous. Excited to hear your feedback. This may be my "final" mod too. Any reason you aren't attempting to tackle the install yourself? I haven't seen anyone try it yet but I'd like to save the labor/waste my own time when I get there.

One, I don't know how to weld. 2. I'm a total novice when it comes to mechanical things. 3. My coworkers father in law owns a Toyota dealership and hooked me up with fair pricing. So - I'll post up on feedback later this week. Ideally, I'll see a bit of a performance gain - but not expecting that per se. Really, I just need a quiet engine.

Picked up the 4runner today with the newly install Doug Thorley shorty headers. These were welded to the existing stock cats in order to preserve emissions.

At first, I noticed these were quiet again...no more jalopy ticking sound. Sweet!

I didn't notice much power gains, but I was driving a Camry all week so it was hard to tell since my truck weights 10x more.

I did notice, however, a surprising increase in my MPG's. I gained easily 2-3 mpg with the headers, and my truck seems to be driving smoother. I did a few test runs at open throttle, and I will say, the butt dyno says it pulls smoother from 3k-5k rpms. Thumbs up here too... but MPG go down when floored

All said and done, this wasn't a cheap remedy for my stock manifold exhaust leak...but I now can say it was money well spent. V8 back in full effect.

Awesome man! The smooth ability of it revving after I did mine was my biggest initial impression. I noticed more power in different rpm ranges next. It's so smooth and quick now that it will hit the Rev limiter in 1st and 2nd gear, and if I Rev it up I notice it's on the limiter before I can even pull my foot. Fun stuff!
