2006 start no crank again.....sigh

Ok, so a month or so ago I jump back into 4runner and get power but no crank , barely a slight click and nothing. Check battery and dork around with stuff and then boom it starts.
Take it to mechanic because all the lights are now on and he checks the cables , hooks up scanner showing ctalytic convert and clears codes. Drives it around all day and no issues. I get it and two days later all the light back on , but seems to start ok.

Then im leaving work and it wont go into gear , just sits for maybe 10 seconds and then pops into gear. I drive it around with the lights all on and decide to try and reset it myself. Unplug it for a bit then start it back up and no light no issues. This morning I go to start , get power but no crank.

I pull the relay and seems to test ok. Bypass the relay through the box and the engine cranks.

Now what do I try. Starting to get the feel for a new runner at this point.

Sounds like the relay may be suspect. You say you bypassed it and ok.

Yep , tried my multi meter on it and it appears good. Then with it pulled I jumped the starter and it fired.

Now I just went back out and messed with things again. I tried starting in park , with no go. Moved the transmission to reverse - no go. Moved the transmission to "N" and it fired up. I had tried previously to start in "N" with no start , but this time it did? Maybe the transmission range selector is going out?

Welp further dinking around. I tried starting in P no go. Tried in R no go. Tried N and it fired.

So, transmission range sensor and a buddy of mine though maybe the brake light switch?
