2006 T4R w/ Xenondepot HID's

RL4673, try this link from the GX470 forums on the Club Lexus website. The GX470 is very similar to the 4Runner, so the wiring and HID installation should be the same or close to it. I'm about to do the same on mine right after Christmas.

Very helpful. Xenon Depot also emailed me instructions later in the day, so the combination of both made for a flawless installation. I have to say, these lights are UNBELIEVABLE. I may have to adjust them just a tad to lower the beam, but otherwise they are awesome. I am glad I didn't get the 4300K kit like I had planned. A+ for Xenon Depot!!

Just wondering why the 6k kit seems to be preferred over a 4k kit. Doesn't the 6k kit put out a bit less light? I mean that's the reason you install the HIDs, for the brightness.
Also anyone who has done this retro, do you notice the HIDs put out more heat than the OEMs?
Really want to do this mod.

No, no heat gain from what I can tell. I am really looney about things messing up my truck, so I check under the hood almost every time I get out of the truck after driving at night. Just to make sure there is no problem with the lights. Once my obsessive compulsion wears off, I will stop doing that. I got the 6000k kit based on the recommendation of the people that HID'd their Lexus GX's. As far as the light output goes, there is so much light on the 6000k kit, I think the 4300k kit would be too much for oncoming and drivers in front of you. In fact, I am going to adjust my 6000k's to aim downward a bit because I feel bad for those in front of me in small passenger cars.

It also has more output to the sides that light road markers and signs much better. The light is white with a hint of blue around the cutoff. Road signs light up with a hint of blue. After several drives at night I have yet to get flashed. The other night I drove with a new Avalon with OEM HID

Matoolie, very nice writeup. I was going to do a writeup also, but my 4300k kit has yet to arrive. It shipped yesterday, so it should be here soon. Looks like my writeup won't be needed as you covered everything very well. Did you provide a link to Steve at xenondepot so he can refer people to your posting?

I haven't noticed a problem with on-coming drivers flashing me, but I have noticed that drivers in front of me are sticking their hands up to cover the light on their side mirrors and moving over when I come up behind them. That's the only issue I've had with mine. When I checked the aim of my lights, they were fine. I guess it's just going to come with the territory.
