Headlights these headlights would better suit a HID bulb in there as it does reduce the glare. Personal experience as I blacked out my headlights myself.

I put the Xenon Depot 4300K kit in a 2004 and the beam pattern looks pretty darn good. Take a gander here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16850&highlight=xenondepot

To be honest, the beam pattern looks better than a HID kit in the JDM Replica housing:

Yeah actually, I had a set in my WRX and they were fantastic. Not sure if you'd notice much difference between them and, say, a GE nighthawk if you add HID lows, but with halogen lows and highs the HIR bulbs are great. I'll be installing a pair even after I put a 4300k kit in my projectors, because I liked them so much.
On a side not, j0, did you use the philips 3000k kit or their "xtreme" kit? I'm kind of torn between the two, as I want the quality of the philips, but with a cost difference like that I might be able to justify skimping on the fogs.

hi guys, i am also wanting to do this mod but wanted to ask you all that installed it a question. How does the setup affect the high beams? Do they still work the same way where both lights will still kick in if needed? I am asking for a 06 model since I know they are different from the previous years....

Another note on those HIR bulbs, now that I think back to the tech article, they were originally designed as high beams to compliment HID lows (OEM high beam bulb for the Dodge Viper). Just another interesting blurb about them that reinforces my decision to pair them up with the 4300ks I'll be ordering in the near future.

Getting ready to buy my kit, but I noticed something today that is holding me up. Does anyone know how to disable the low beam from coming on when using the daytime "flash-to-pass" feature? Flashing HIDs like that is hard on the ballast.
