2007 lift gate switch in cold weather

I have noticed that my 2007 4Runner Limited lift gate switch operates fine in warm temps but requires much effort to press when the weather is cold.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem, other than replacing the entire part?

I haven't heard of the change in temperature problem. I have heard that they tend to go bad sooner than later. Hopefully that time is not soon for you for I fear the part is a little pricey.
