2007 SR5 4WD Build Thread with Pictures

This is my TR4. Right now all I have is a cornfed 2.75/1.5 and weathertech mats. By the end of the week I will have my 255/75/17 bfg mud terrains mounted on fj wheels. By January of 09 I will have installed 50w HID, Weathertech window vents, a yakima roof rack, dual hella 500ff, and an xm radio. Here are some pictures that I have taken since I got it in feb of this year.

yes I do recognize that this is an awful idea but I did it anyway. I tried to get further up the blocks, ended up rolling off forwards when i got out to take the picture. Didnt hurt anything. Yes I am a dumb***. My back tire actually came off the ground and then it rolled. Haha

If you're like me you angsted for weeks over exactly how much lift to use, congrats, you hit it on the money!:biggrin2: To lower the lift from 3" in the front did you preload the spring less or was the 1/2" done with top spacer?

I got cornfed to do it custom. I think that is what you are getting at. I knew I wasnt gonna get the 2/1 so I decided what the hell, for 15 bucks more than the 3/2 I can get exactly what I want. Man, I love the ride. Not loose in corners anymore, bumps are less dramatic. I like everything better since the spacers. The higher ride height is great too. Thanks for your intrest, o btw, if you watched my sig at all, it said I was getting cornfed for almost 7 monthes, haha. I thought way too hard abt it.

And just a hint...to avoid blur when taking your pictures, click the shutter half way to focus & once it's focus (green boxes show on your LCD) then click it again to close the shutter.

I know:awais: A few months ago I decided I want a full 32-33" tire. That leaves 275/70 or 255/75, I'm leaning towards GY SA's in the 255/75 size. With that as the backdrop I have decided to install my rear FJCruiser springs, keep my AirLift and add another .75"-.8" on the front. I ordered custom CF Spacers almost 2 months ago (IIRC). They showed up last week and look great.

Thanks icantsee, I was just in a hurry. Didnt really want it to fall on me haha. It did anyway though. CJ3Flyr, that sounds like an awesome setup. Good luck with it, I wish you the best. More to come with tires and etc. Oh and the reason that I am going with the bfg mudd, other than the obvious off road advantages, is because they are available on tirerack for such an awesome close out price. You basically get your tires purchased, shipped, and installed for about 550 bucks. That would probably be close to the price of three bfg if you were to go to your local tire shop. Thanks
 
UPDATE!!!

I got my 255/75/17 bfg mud terrains installed to day. I bought them through tirerack.com and got them shipped to the installer for 470, a much better deal than you would get from a local tire shop. Mounted up on FJ wheels. I love the look, hope yall do too.

What made you decide to go with 255/75/17 rather than 265/70/17?

Also did you get a spare or no?

I wanted a true 32" tire, not to mention getting the BFG in any other size would have made it much more expensive. That is the size that Jeep contracted BFG to make for the 07+ Rubicons. Therefore, I dont believe that they are made in mass, and that makes them cheaper. 94 bucks per on tirerack to be exact. Thanks for the advice, but I am taking in the chrome FJ wheels and lovin um.
 
nice... 255/75's are a good choice, the diam is not much smaller than a 285/70 and more than half the price of other m/t's... what pressure are you running? I hope at least 40psi... be sure to update on how the meats perform, both on and off road
 
Would you suggest that high of a pressure? I have put about 30 miles on them since I got them the other day. I am not sure what the Goodyear place did as far as pressure. I will check it tomorrow and increase it as necessary. Thanks for the advice. I will be sure to post pictures. I am goin this weekend hopefully, so look for pictures.

You may be ok but you should look into it further. The bfg's are a C-rated tire. They handle 2400 lbs at 50 psi. Light Truck tires are capable of carrying higher loads due to the extra plies and the ability to handle higher air pressure. Running them at lower psi at high speeds can lead to overheating and eventually failure.

This thread has some links in it with good reads. You may want to use a Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited as a benchmark for a base psi, then add a few more psi to accomodate for the heavier weight of the 4R.

I'd bump it to 40.

Well that's good to hear they put 45 to start. My shop put in 32 to begin with, they were hot when I got home, about a 5 mile trip... I brought them up to 45 right away.

Enough talk about psi, show us some dirty pics soon! Lookin' good!
