2007 V8 Idle Surge

I've searched the forum but haven't come across any resolution for the idle surging issue. Has anyone had this issue fixed? I just wanted get some info together before I bring in a new 07 with 750 miles.

I haven't experimented with the A/C on yet, but my runner surges from 500 to about 800-1000. I really started noticing it today when I almost lurched into the rear of another vehicle at a stop light.

Is this your first V8 with automatic trans?

No, i have had a ford explorer 5.0 v8 and a Land Rover V8. I'v also had volvos, a bmw and a Honda. Never have i ever seen the idle fluctuate in any of my previous vehicles like it do in this 4runner. The only instance where ive had a problem with a vehicle lurching forward was on one of my work trucks, F450 T Diesel, and the problem was a faulty MAF.

This is common with the A/C on, as the computer cycles the compressor on and off.

It sounds strange, but eventually you'll learn to hold the brake pedal a little bit harder. There's a lot of power under that hood!

I'm not sure why, but there is a natural position that the trans. goes through and because of the low end torque of the V8 this causes a surge which is exacerbated when running the A/C. I think it has something to do with the ultra low emision rating Toyota gets on the V8.
