2008 4R Sports Edition Hitch...what should I use????

Hello,

I have a 2008 Sports Edition 4runner....it did not come with the towing package therefore it has the standard bumper without the hitch opening. I am looking to tow my 2 dirt bikes...so I really do not need a heavy duty hitch. I was wondering what is the cheapest best looking hitch to mount under my standard bumper. Also what type? Are bolt on (no drilling or welding) recommendable? What am I going to need as far as towing weight.

I've got a HiddenHitch 77079 on mine. The newer versions I believe are rated for 600 tongue weight and 6000 towing weight. There's no drilling, welded or cutting required. It installs about in about 40 minutes.

Question about hitches and what not.

"Class III hitches are weight carrying (WC) and also are weight distributing (WD) hitches depending on the vehicle and hitch specifications."

Is that based on what the trailer has on it, or is it the hitch? I'm not really sure and I don't see anything spelling it out in English.

I don't have a trailer the only thing I would pull is something rented from Uhaul.

I don't tow. But from observation, the V8 has weight distributing, because the hitch attaches to the frame rails of the 4Runner that run fore and aft.

The V6 is weight carrying, the hitch is mounted on the rear most cross member only.
