2008 4Runner - Bilstein adjustable 5100 front with stock springs

I see a lot of 5100s with FJ springs here but are they necessary when installing bilsteins? Has anyone installed adjustable 5100s up front using the stock springs? I'd like to add about 1.5" of lift to level the nose, and I'm on the fence about Daystar and other spacers. Will the stock front springs accomodate this? Has anyone put 5100s in the rear with stock springs?

Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks are designed by Bilstein to go with factory springs. I've never read in their website suggesting other than factory coils, infact they discourage it, unless lowest setting/adjustment is set. Since 4Runner and FJ Cruiser share same part number, using FJ springs and Bilstein 5100 combo in the 4runner should have no issue, thats why many have that setup.
As for the rear, there is a little problem being the rear 5100 is longer than stock shocks where rear coils are designed to work properly. You can get an after market shocks of same length to factory, should you want to stay with factory rear spring.

so..Go ahead use your old factory springs in front. The good of 5100 vs spacers is you got a new shocks(mine has lifetime warranty) plus the option to level the front/rear.
