My dealer just called and the pricing for the 2008 4runners are in and i can order mine this week. He said it should only take 8 weeks to get. I have heard people waiting 4-6 months to get their special order. Any thoughts?

Standard allocations might start appearing in 8 weeks. That's not truly a special order - you're just putting your name on one that's already planned to come to this country.

Factory orders that are custom to your specs seem to be taking 3 months minimum.

Totally agree with Toto. Don't let the dealer BS you with this.

I spoke to my dealer and there are 08's already on the ground in L.A. I found one close enough to what I want, so I'm taking it. Looks like I could have it mid September, waiting for the dealer to confirm.

Odd that some 08's are on the ground and there are not even any spy pictures, hearing the grill is changed, maybe the tail lights, etc,. Nothing major. Freshen up prior to the new version we are hearing rumors of.

The changes are very tiny for 2008. Not worth any hoopla or "spy shots".

If the 08's are on the ground, why do you need to wait a month? Are you waiting for a particular option combo or color?

Dealer said it will be here between 9/4 - 9/10.

Who said anything about trying to create "Hoopla"! How much talk has there been about possible changes for 08? We know any possible change will be small, I was simply trying to point out given all this noise, that it is strange there is not a single picture of an 08 4Runner given they are already on the ground in L.A. or if there is a VSC on/off, etc,.

I used poor word choice, "Spy Photo", :bash:
guess that term is resevered for complete re-models, my bad, my apologies.

Here is what I have for invoicing:

SR4 4X4

factory installed options:
FE - 50 state emissions
DR - roof rack
AW - 17" wheels
TH - Third row (not the best setup, but I have 3 small kids, want
the option to at least separate them!)
TO - Tow

port options:
CF - carpet mats

2007 2008

Invoice 25,812.00 26,139.00

Rack 220.00 220.00
17" whls 80.00 80.00
Side Air bgs 583.00 standard
Tow 344.00 344.00
Mats 126.00 126.00
--------------- -------------
Total Acc 1,953.00 1,370.00

Destination 645.00 685.00
TDA 645.00 653.00
Gasoline 10.00 10.00
Holdback 598.00 605.00
Reserve 299.00 302.00
----------------- -------------
29,962.00 29,764.00

So for this config, the 08 is 198.00 cheaper. The standard side head air bag feature made the diff even though some of the other areas increased in price.

I'll post the photos in a few weeks.

Thanks rguin, very good suggestion, I appreciate it.

I think the configurations are limited when you go with the 3rd row. I'm ready to ditch the 3rd row. I'ts not very functional anyway and my kids only ride with me when we ski, etc,. I bet resale with a 3rd row may not do well either, especially when the new 4Runner is introduced, as I'm sure they'll fix the 3rd row problem - no space, no leg room, no fold flat, etc,.

When I asked the dealer about the sunroof and the 3rd row earlier this week, there were none. But he also didn't say if you skip the 3rd row, QT will give you the sunroof.

I sent an e-mail to the dealer and asked him to confirm the QT option. There appears to be a QW QV option too, I asked him to confirm.

QW
Homelink ?Electrochromic inner mirror ?
QV
X-REAS suspension ?Rear spoiler

The dealer clarified that this 4Runner includes the QT Value Pkg. The invoice the dealer sent earlier in the week did not reflect this, didn't even show the QT. Now, the new invoice shows QT, guess Toyota had not updated the invoices/invoice system to reflect the changes.

So here is the break down

2008 SR5 4x4 v6

Options
FE
TH - third row
TO - tow
QT - leather wheel &shift knob, 17" alum wheels
cruise and audio controls, sunroof, roof rack and
cross bars, tonneau cover.

2Q - all weather mats

Invoice:

26,139.00
644.00 third row
344.00 Tow pkg
367.00 QT pkg - includes sunroof
70.00 4 piece all weather mats
------------
1,425.00 accessory total
685.00 destination
653.00 TDA
10.00 Gas
605.00 Holdback
302.00 Whsl. Fin Reserve
------------
29,819.00

Lucky you can get both the sun roof and third row seating, as my 2004 SR5 in two row version came with the sunroof, but not with the third row version

Are you forgetting about the $2,000 cash back for the '07. This deal is good 'til 9/4.

Yes, good point about the rebate. Dealer is thinking there will still be a rebate, just not as much as the 07s. Not that I trust a dealer. If I did an 07, the cost of getting a sunroof may put me back at the cost of the 08 without a rebate. The current offer expires on 9/4, so we'll know shortly if there is something offered on the 08s too. The amount of the rebate is regional too, in CO the rebate is $1,800, in KS, the rebate is $2,000.

I'm guessing you can do well on the remaining 2007's. I'd shoot for an SR5 in the $24.5 to $26.5K range depending on the option packages.

Don't bet on the lower resale or a configuration change. The Landcruiser has had the tumble and fold seats for the last 2-3 generations. This is the first generation of 4runner with a 3rd row. As far as resale, the dealers can't keep 3rd row 4runners on the lot up here. They sell quickly, used or new. Funny thing is that they only order SR5's with the 3rd row, not the Limited. I guess the demand is for people like me with small kids who don't want the leather interior trashed...

The SR5's with third row are extremely rare down here, and the only place I've ever seen a Limited with 3rd row is in the brochure :D
