Thought it time I join and say hello. I have searched the forums for many inspiring mods. My next project is blocking cold air from entering the grill for these northern winters. -50F does weird things to my rig at even a modest 35mph. Any points to ideas greatly appreciated. I have seen a thread on radiator protection, but trying to block more air and really don't want to result to zip ties and cardboard which seems to be the popular for the area.

Well waddya know--even Santa drives a 4Runner! Welcome to the forum, PD11. Have you considered using that fabric that truckers use for blocking their grills? I have no idea if you can get small quantities of it to make your own, or even if it's something special at all--maybe you can get it anywhere. I would think you could make a full-coverage piece with a partial zipper opening, and attach it to the edges of the grill. I don't know--just thinking out loud. Just make sure your fenderwells are fully blocked off, because that's what will draw the air through. Best of luck, and stay warm!

I found a tent company that makes gril covers for trucks...waiting on a reply to see if they can custom one for a 4runner. i'll post if it pans out.
