Strange result of hard braking.
Quick stop, hard braking, at tire traction limit, foot still on brake, stopped!
Release brake, start to accelerate and no go! Seems like the trans became disconnected always makes me think the trans fluid sloshed to the front of the trans case and maybe the fluid pickup is starving! The motor is accelerating but the car isn't moving! After a second everything seems to engage and BAM the trans hooks up with a BANG and off we go. Very strange experience.
Any thoughts ?

Sounds like your torque converter is starting to give out. Sloshing of transmission fluid has no part in this.

Easy fix: have transmission fluid serviced at a reputable Toyota Dealer.
