2008 V6 Highway Mileage

Well...here is a little update. Still to early to know if I am back to normal but I did reclean the MAF sensor. The first time I did not clean the little wires down inside the sensor, only the amber bulb. I have run seafoam through the tank and intake not too long ago. This time I disconnected the battery too.

I have also been reading on a LS1 forum where a lot of guys have been putting TCW3 2 cycle oil in their gas at a mixture of 500:1 or 1 oz per 4-5 gallons. This is supposed to lubricate and clean the upper cylinder walls.

I will report back results after 4-5 tank of gas.

I have yet to see any conclusive evidence of using sea-foam on an engine that is running fine (relatively speaking), that boosts power/economy/etc.

If doing plugs/filter/oil/+tire pressure/etc doesn't work look at the gas you use. Someone mentioned bad gasoline. I'd start here. I used to fill on a Giant/Sam'sClub/Sheetz gas before I starting using Top Tier gasoline. Yeah, I know, gas is gas, but really it isn't. I saw my MPGs go up slightly.

How many data points with the lower fuel mileage are we talking? 2? 20? 50?

There are so many things affecting fuel mileage both vehicle-related and non-vehicle-related that the data can easily get skewed. I've had long term fuel mileage data for 400 mile one-way trips getting gas from the same gas stations, driving with the cruise on the same speed and have seen variations of 4 MPG for the identical legs of the trip. Too often we assume it's our vehicle when it's actually the % ethanol in the fuel, wind direction, temperature, humidity, weight increase or reduction in the vehicle, yada yada. A few additional red lights alone can impact average mileage calcs from fill-up to fill-up.
