Did Toyota not make alot of 2010-2013 Trail 4Runners? I really like the look of the old Trail model but they are so hard to find compared to the SR5 and Limited. Also, is it true that the JBL sound system was offered on the older Trail models?

I think the ratio back then was about 4% of 4Runners made were Trails, now I think it's about 10%. Mine has JBL, too. I think it depends on your region. Mine was imported to Texas where I think KDSS, nav and stereo upgrade were a package. My friend bought his 2012 Trail in Colorado with KDSS and nav, but it does not have JBL.

Your question about JBL:

From 2010-13 the JBL system came with the Nav package and was available in all trims (SR5, Trail, Limited). From 2014+, all trims came standard with Entune, adding navigation in some fashion (I'm still not really sure what Entune vs Entune premium is though). And finally, from 2014+ only the Limited trim has the JBL sound system available, which is a standard feature.

I bought a 2010 trail a few weeks ago. The former owner told me that when he bought it the only package he could add was an all in one KDSS, nav, and JBL.

it sucks that you can no longer get the SR5 or Trail with the JBL stereo. Also I miss the Party Mode feature on the older Limited

i think [MENTION=80024]STX4Runner[/MENTION] has it right that there actually were fewer Trails produced early on.

i have KDSS, Nav, and JBL, but i don't recall if it was an all-in package in the New England region. it was, however, what i wanted.

don't be too forlorn re: lack of JBL. it's nice, but there are certainly superior factory "premium audio" systems out there.

If you are trying to find an older trail I would suggest looking in the more western states like CO. That's where most of them seemed to go. When I got mine here in CO, there were a lot of trails on the lots and almost all of them did not have nav or JBL, but they did have KDSS.

I agree that there were fewer made in '10-'13, but that is really a product of what the various regions here in the US ordered from the factory. Perhaps they didn't realize what the trail offered since the package didn't exist prior to the 5th gen, except for the last year of the 4th gen (2009). Those are very rare. The only one I have seen (photo, not in person) even had a "TRAIL" badge.

When I bought my 2012 TE new, I was told TE was either a special order or had to get one transferred into the region. Missouri was not in a Toyota region that dealers stocked TEs in per Toyota decision. I got mine transferred in from western region, so I was told. I have KDSS and Entune, but no JBL logos, and the speakers were crappy, so not sure if JBL system.

Nice to know I have a rare model. Still just 26k miles on the clock too!

I have a 2011 TE with KDSS and JBL in the NYC area. I bought is used from PA. When i was looking it was hard to find a trail model and even harder to find one with Nav and nearly impossible to find one with KDSS and nav. I took my time and finally found what i wanted.

I was looking in the North NJ area, including NYC for a used TE for almost a year. Found one last August & bought it, a 2012 TE. No KDSS or JBL, but it does have the big screen for GPS (which I don't use) etc., and the "party mode" button, which my 11 year old son really likes.

I did see a few used TE models in my search, but it took quite awhile to find one that I could buy. They're expensive. I had about given up when I found mine at a dealer, CPO.
