So my navigation was 5 years outdated and I didnt want to go to the dealership to get it updated as its really expensive. I had routes that told me to take this off ramp and when I took it to go back onto the highway and it really annoyed me.
I looked around and with some luck and help I found this navigation DvD which updates your navigation unit to the most up to date released version; Jan 2018. I couldnt find a video on how to do it on youtube for the early 5th gens, so I decided to make a quick video on the process of updating it.

I use the most up to date maps...on my phone lol I will not touch the navigation built into the 4Runner. I have yet to experience a vehicle with a decent built-in navigation system.

Very nice! 18.1 was actually just released in 2019 Feb...not 2018. Development occurred in 2018 hence the 18.1 designation.
