2010-2013 Spyder Headlights

Light output looks pretty darn close to stock. I was worried they might be worse, but am glad they are not. The nice thing about these is even though they are not currently HID, I’m sure I can put those in since these now have projector housings as opposed to the traditional ones on the stock headlights. Spyder said it will void the warranty though, but the warranty is only good for a year anyways. I’ll probably wait it out though.

I had a set of Spec-D projector headlights for my 05’. They also came with halogen bulbs and said using HID’s would void the warranty as well.
Me being me, I put them in anyway. In a matter of months, the outside lens of the housing started to “spider” and looked really bad.
I figure it was the heat output from the HID’s that caused it.
If I were to do it to this pair, I might try LED’s as they run a bit cooler than the HID’s. But I would still be concerned.
That said the exact reason I was asking the bulb type in these new headlights.

Interesting point. I’ve never had problems with oem lenses it was just this one set of headlights. Assumed it was the HID’s but you make a good point. Probably just garbage quality plastic.

Just placed my order for a set of these, pretty excited to try them out, my stock trail headlights are starting to yellow a bit, I thought about restoring them by sanding and clear coating, but decided to go with the spyder ones since they do look a bit more modern.

Same here. The top of the headlights, where it is flat, are starting to yellow and fade for me. I'll probably try to refinish those now that they're off the truck.

When you did the install, is the oem low beam bulb (H11) the same for the new housings? Or do they have a different bulb socket?

Just confirmed with Spyder that they are indeed H11 bulbs.

This is good to know. I also have a set coming whenever the black housing are back in stock. I was told the white one are available now. Perhaps I'll try my wifes LED bulbs hmmmm! I'm very curious to see what they would do.

I'm curious to see how HID and LED perform in these housings. I wonder what would make the HID/LED specific headlights any different.

Not sure. From what I've heard apparently they're also making an LED housing... not really sure how they're gonna change it. I guess the quality of the protector is pretty important.

The tops of my headlights on my 2011 are beginning to yellow as well. Not sold on the look of the spyders, but glad there is another option under $1000. I'm gonna try and hold out for a while and hope they develop some more styles. I have a feeling I'm gonna be SOL since it took spyder 7 years to come out with these.

another company is making some but I don't know about the price being too good. I'm gonna drop a grand on headlights, that's for damn sure.

Dam, I have been trying not to drink and smoke too much so I wont impulse buy. Spent thousands already on lift, tires. Rims, system, taillights etc... Do you know the name of the company?

Look pretty good for an affordable price. I'm interested.

For those of you with the yellowing on the top of the oem housing, I bought decals off of e-bay specifically for this. You choice of colors. I installed black and they've been on for 1.5 years now and have held up perfectly. Its a cheap option and looks better than the fogging imo.
