2010-2015 TRD CAI intake question

So I'm looking for someone who has the 2010-2015 TRD cold air intake installed on their 4Runner. I need to get a measurement off of it if you don't mind undoing the hose clamp at the air box and giving me the tube diameter of the box. Included is a photo of the CAI and I have an arrow pointed to the spot I need measured. I have an idea up my sleeve but before I spend the money on it, I want to know if it'll work or not. Thanks!

Since you didn't post your ideas, I'm going to just guess what you want to do. Stock box and TRD box parts are not interchangeable. There is actually a thread somewhere here that talks about the diameter of that section.

Exactly what I was wanting to see. If the TRD intake pipe and hose couplings would work with the stock box lid. I didn't want to say anything about it and get people's hopes up on a cheaper alternative lol. Just needed a size lol. Oh well. Thanks for the info rydr1

There is a guy here that pieced all the parts together and if I remember correctly paid under $300 for the whole set up. The thread is here somewhere and the guys were cool enough to put links and part numbers needed.

Post 161 and 162 says he only paid $216 HERE

Reading that post I think it is 4.125 ID (and I measured with a tape), but I don't know if you want an OD or an ID.

Somewhere on this forum somebody did a before and after dyno test.

As I recall it was an increase in hp, I think 5, don't hold me to it.

Horsepower was minimal like you said but I believe that torque was about 19 lb ft. I'm going to order the individual parts and get this moving.

I have the K&N and couldn't be happier. I looked for a TRD for the 4Runner and couldn't find one

I don't like the K&N CAI what so ever. The open box design is poor for what I plan to do with the 4Runner in the future. A closed box intake like the stock or TRD CAI is what I need for later down the road when I finally pull the trigger on a snorkel. Not too worried about horsepower gains. Just wanted to create an unrestricted air flow by mating the TRD CAI intake pipe to the stock box lid. I already have an AFE Pro Dry S filter in the stock box. Just by swapping to that I felt a little more pep and less restriction. I just need to find one of my FJ friends with the TRD CAI and pull it apart and try it out on the 4Runner (ex: the TRD CAI tube on stock box. Or the TRD CAI lid on stock lower box)

In the post above your post, follow the link. In that link TheWraith is the member that had it tested.

Yep, a tried and true application that has been done by others..... see the link I supplied in an earlier post above ....

235.00 vs almost 400.00

Thats exactly my order. I didnt even think about the filter but will use my stock paper OEM for now and see how I like it.
