2010 SR5 question about seats & sunroof

Hello all!

I posted this over in the New Members section but thought I'd post here too.

My question involves my seats and sunroof. I thought I had an SR5 Premium when I bought it a month ago (if that even exists). The truck has a sunroof, leather heated seats, and a backup camera w/ sensors. During my 2 test drives, I noticed when on the high setting on the drivers side seat heater, the LED in the switch didn't always work. No big deal, maybe a loose wire or maybe they are on a timer and shut off after a certain period of time.

I only test drove one other 5th gen and it did not have heated seats so I didn't really notice anything different. So, 2 nights after I bought it, I was looking though the owners manual, and saw the pics of the seat heaters. Hey, those aren't the same switches I have!-

I also found the original window sticker in the glove box, and lo and behold it had fabric seats from the factory. Well, I don't -

Sooo, can someone confirm for me that these are either factory Toyota seats, obviously installed after the car was 1st sold, or are these Katskin seats? I do not see a Katzkin tag anywhere, but the seat heater switches are the type they tend to install with the Katzkins. Why they didn't install them in the blanks in front of the armrest I don't know.

Now with the sunroof, it is on the original window sticker, but today I found this sticker on the side of the glovebox -

Are Sunroofs dealer installed options? Or, can they be?

The heaters switches on the photo are not Toyota. Factory ones would be located next to the rear windows switch. And as far as I know leather seats come with heaters in 4Runners. So looks like this truck got 3rd party leather and heathers. Probably it was originally not a Premium model, but dealer or previous owner has installed leather seats and soon roof to make it Premium : )

Agree with the switch placement, but just wanted to mention you can get upgraded leather seats w/o heaters (that's how my '13 SR5 is). The '14 and up "SR5-Premium" options might be different, but before the SR5-Premium, you could certainly get Leather w/o heat (my SR5 has convenience package plus Leather Upgrade).

Your "leather upgrade" appears extremely similar to mine down to the driver's seat wear patterns, but obviously the window sticker and the receipt your found don't support that theory...

And then you show that the Sunroof appears stock as mentioned on the window sticker, but the receipt for the Leather Upgrade appears to be from a sunroof place!!! Gets stranger and stranger!

I didn't even notice that the yellow sticker said "Leather Pecca". I thought that was the installers name. I googled Auto Sunroof Inc and they do a lot of aftermarket stuff. Interior/leather options bring you to Katzkins. I guess that sticker has nothing to do with the sunroof but shows when the aftermarket leather and seat heaters were installed. Starting to make sense now....

If you have the backup sensors, rearview camera then you have the SR5 "Premium" for that year. I have the same.

The leather, like others have said, is not factory. It is an aftermarket kit and could have been dealer installed. I also see you have electric adjustable driver seat, which I do not have.

The sunroof sticker might be for a fix for a problem. If it is on the original sales sticker then it came with it. 5th Gens with no sunroof are a rare find and I don't think you can get the new ones without them, but I could be wrong.

Interesting though I have the same switches for my heated seats but they are mounted right behind the blanks where the factory ones go. I have the SR5 premium but all my stuff is on the window sticker. Maybe port installed? I don't know.

My 2013 SR5 has the Convenience Package, which has a sunroof, and has the backup camera and sensors.

Where is the screen for your backup cam? If it is in the rearview mirror, it is factory for sure.

Is your steering wheel leather wrapped? The non-premium SR5s don't have leather wrapped steering wheels.

My biggest concern would be the sunroof. It is installed at the factory, and I would never trust an aftermarket sunroof install. An aftermarket install, would likely not use the factory sunroof switch. Do you have a separate tilt and slide button? If you could post a pic, that would help. Alos, does the glass slide back into the roof (Between the roof and headliner)? Or does it tilt up, then slide back, sticking up in the air, above the roof. Aftermarket sunroofs will do that.

Your aftermarket seat heater not light not working is a good example of why you shouldn't get aftermarket stuff added on, especially anything with electronics. Installers will lazily hack into your factory wiring, which can cause issues down the road. The switch you have, is a very common seat heater switch, that several aftermarket seat heater brands use. Those leather seats are aftermarket, but not Katzkin, probley some other brand.

Looks like they did a decent job on the leather install, but I would be worried on how they wired in your seat heaters, with the illumination not working.

Pecca Leather is a brand, just like Katzkin. It's owned by Coverking and the standard covers are made in Malaysia, just like Katzkin. Katzin has better name recognition on this site, so people think it is better, although in my very limited experience, it is very similar or the same.

The backup cam is in the rearview mirror and on the sticker.

The sunroof is most definitely factory. It's also on the original window sticker as an option. It was just the orange sticker in the glove box that threw me off. Seems logical that one shows when the aftermarket leather and seat heaters were installed, probably by the dealer as their name is written on it.

No worries, all is good. The leather looks great and has held up extremely well in 5 years. I'm not going to worry about the LED too much. The heaters work just fine.
