.... Why won't they release ANY info about his s/c if it is ready for production? If it is ready, then they should be singing from the rooftops about it's greatness.

Whatever is holding up Toyota's release, is likely holding up Gadget's too.
 
Pure speculative guess here:

Perhaps the recently released CAFE standards have them screwed up.

I know CAFE standards have no bearing on fitting a Supercharger after the sale, but the E85 fuel is the method auto manufacturer's have for getting around CAFE standards and their pending restrictions. E85 vehicles will receive credits, artificially increasing their mileage to meet the new standards.

Ethanol and CAFÉ standards ? Money for Nothing

I imagine within a few years will be E85 flex fuel compliant to take advantage of this loophole. I'm guessing this adds a significant hurdle for an add-on supercharger, particularly if the owner actually fills with E85.

Since there's currently no supercharger related breaking news to discuss, mind sharing why it's BS? I'm all for learning new things :)

Here's my guess as to why it was BS, that poster was saying that twin turbos are not designed or intended to create more power, instead they are just there to decrease lag which is just wrong. However, I have heard of a twin scroll turbo design being created to reduce lag.

Two turbos that are both laggy does not equal less lag. However it would equal more power.

He's not totally wrong. It is common knowledge that 2 smaller turbos will have less lag than one larger compressor and that is one of the reasons for twin turbos. The other being that ultimately you can get more boost from 2 than from 1.
 
Yous guys is confusing!

If you are both discussing twin turbos (each bank gets it's own turbo) vs. a single turbo, then generally the twins will have less lag (the wheels are smaller in mass/diameter and thusly the rotational moment of inertia is less [rotational moment of inertia being related to the 2nd power of the radius]). Maximum power will essentially be the same for both assuming the turbo map is similar wrt efficiency (if you don't assume that, you have an invalid comparison).
 
Another less lag twin turbo setup would be similar to what Acura is doing. You use the smaller turbo to faster spool up the larger turbo, reducing lag. If you use a variable intake, then the smaller diameter/higher flow speed will speed up the spooling of the first (smaller turbo) which spools up the larger turbo with the compressed air, at which point the intake is enlarged as well allowing for higher volume air to be compressed by the larger turbo.

Anyway.. all well and good, but since neither is available and Toyota has not talked turbo at all... I'll continue to keep an eye out for the at (hopefully eventual) super charger.

Explain to me how I am an idiot. Feel free to use actual math, science, or engineering to back up what you're talking about, because I have that data. I've made ~1200 hp on a single turbo, and I spent about 2 years getting to that point. I worked with SWRI to get there. How about you?

Also, do me a favor, instead of calling people names, how about you chill the fvck out and act like an adult....

I didn't say that was the only reason. It *is* a primary benefit though, and it keeps you from having to do things like add a larger stall converter to an automatic transmission, etc. It's easier to spool two smaller turbos than one larger one. It's a balancing act between keeping hot air available to spool the turbo quickly while keeping charge air temps and cylinder pressure down as spark advance is more aggressive at lower points in the power band.

As far as making "more power", you can make a lot of power with both setups. It's a question of to what extent you want to engineer things. Exhaust, brackets, turbo placement, intercooler setups, and many more things all weigh in to putting one vs. two turbos on a car that wasn't designed for it to begin with. I wasn't afraid of putting a 4000 RPM stall converter on my car which was a street/strip setup. Some people don't like running such a setup on the street. Your results may vary.

Mike Murillo and I worked on some of his turbo and supercharger setups a few years back. He's a Mustang guy, but other than that he's ok.. :)

strange that unlike other installs it doesn't have the TRD CAI. seems to have the stock intake with the resonator removed...

Yes - That pic was posted yesterday. They act like it was revealed at the summit. And said avalible this Christmas.

I figured that toyota showed that off considering they had 2014 models up there showing them off.
