I'm right here with you guys. I keep hoping to see a pic of someone's engine with the SC. Aaaaahhhhhhhhh TRD FAIL!
That is an FJ, but it is the same engine and Supercharger. Somewhere in the first dozen pages (I stole that pic from page1) of this thread I am sure there are pics of the 4runner that TRD brought to the FJ summit with the supercharger installed. Is this an Fj? Was hoping more of a 5th gen ready for production.
How about swapping in the Tundra 5.7L and adding the supercharger to that? I have been chatting with BlackWorksInc regarding this and he thinks the engine will physically fit into the frame with minor tweaking.
How does 505 HP and 550 lb-ft of torque sound? Who wants to be the Guinea pig?
probably be easier the frankensteining a motor.
I had a 2010 Tundra with the 5.7 and it was a quick truck, even at the 380ish HP. If you could cram that motor into the 4R, you wouldn't even need a supercharger. I bet a junkyard 5.7 is pricey though!
Or even, just better gearing. I would have been the first in line to order the super charger, but after re-gearing, I wouldn't bother with the SC, even if they released it at 1/2 the expected price.I would rather have better gearing and a 6 speed transmission than having extra HP and TQ! Why would you want extra weight when your could utilize the stock motors power band?

IMHO, the 5th gen should have come with 3.9 or 4.1 gearing stock. Would have given up a mpg or two, but felt as fast, or faster than the 4th gen with its smaller tires.
I fell for it again! Damn this thread!!!
Gotta agree I would much rather have the extra gearing going down a steep slope thane having a nose heavy V8!
