2011 Toyota 4Runner Install

The shop I work at just got our first 2011 4Runner to get a little sound system. This one isn't particularly crazy but I figured I would share some pics with you guys. Let me know what you guys think. I already have an idea for doing the next one that we get in.

Basically we stayed with the stock head unit. This 4Runner didn't have the Premium sound system which made the install slightly simpler. We basically went with a minimalistic setup

Alpine PDX 5 running the entire system. The subwoofer consisted of a single Alpine SWS-1043D 10 inch subwoofer in a custom enclosure.
1 pair of Alpine SPS-610C, SPS-610, and SPS-619. if you don't understand the model numbers basically one pair of 6.5 coaxial, component, and 6x9 coaxial speakers. It sounded pretty sweet. I must say I like the new 4Runners it makes my 2005 seem old.

The 5 Channel amp was tucked away nicely under the drivers seat and the subwoofer enclosure was installed on the passenger side rear panel above the wheel well.

That's a very clean awesome install!!!! I'm about to install my alpine 12" type R in my 2006 model. I wish the 4gen t4r's had rear wheel wells like that to build better integrated boxes around like that. Hey do u have the rough demensions of that box. Again great install man!

may I inquire as to how you handled the front dash speakers and wiring? From wiring diagrams it looks like they're the first stop from the HU in parallel with the front door speakers, where you put the 6x9s.

6.5 components in the rear doors, 6.5 coax in the gate? I was looking at doing a very similar setup, actually looking at the pdx amps.

yeah I think think I still have the template of it at the shop I will look for it tomorrow when I get to work.

yeah the tailgate got the 6.5 coaxials, the rear door I think got the 6.5 component woofer since the Type S Components have the crossovers integrated with the wiring we were able to separate the component set and we installed the 6x9's in the front door. I suppose if you want a true component setup on the front you can ditch the 6x9 in the front and just make a speaker mount to adapt 6.5's and that way you can just do 6.5's all the way around. Our customer wanted to have a little more bass in the front still so that was why we left the 6x9's on the front. To address the wiring since the crossovers are part of the wiring for the tweeter we were able to do everything in line and not have to rewire anything, and since the PDX amp isn't too picky with the impedance load it handled it just fine.

Ahh, I think I get it... you took the tweeters from the components and moved those up front in place of the dash speakers? Thanks for the help.
