2011 Trail Ed. Cluster GONE WILD???!!!

So today, my wife drives the 4Runner to church, and while in park, the cluster seems to have just went wild....

I have tried to put it in 4 LO, 4 HI, and 2 HI repeatedly, and can't get the lights on the cluster to clear.... Here are a few pics, and all the lights on the far right cluster blink repeatedly, while the "Park" and "ABS" stay lit...

Any clue what's going on? Maybe I'm an idiot???

Went out again and shifted into 4 LO, 4 HI, and 2 HI... Probably 10 times each. I can hear it engage in every position, and is in fact in 4 or 2 wheel drive, but the lights never change, and never indicate the selected position.

Also curious about the ABS and the BRAKE lights are on. That is supposed to indicate a malfunction. Still under warranty, but good lord this is eating me alive!!!! Only 38K miles on the vehicle, and probably 30k of the mileage is Interstate Miles!!!!! :noidea:

On 4th gens if the gas cap is loose it sets off a lot of lights on the dash. May not be your problem but it is easy to check.

May want to try disconnecting the battery and connecting it back after a minute or so.

When you engage 2wd and 4wd do you move the vehicle? Try switching modes and driving back and forward a couple yards.

Also, do you have have a body lift or lifted suspension on the vehicle? After market rims?

Yep, drove back and forth in each position... Could hear the ECU in the Glovebox, and could also hear the Transfer Case and Gears Mesh in each change... Damn this sucks... Emailed the dealership and the service department in hopes they'll call early in the morning. Hopefully they value my business and will fit me in!!!

FWIW i had a similar problem on my Tundra. It ended up being a bad wheel speed or position sensor. I dont remember which as it was repaired under warranty. There was nothing mechanically wrong with the truck, just the computer wasn't getting a signal from that particular sensor and so it caused all kinds of lights to come on.

I had this happen in another vehicle. It turned out to be the computer. First the dash indicators went crazy and then the car died and would not restart. Dealer fixed it under warranty. I suggest you have someone follow you in case you have the same issue.

I had the same exact problem in my Tundra with the same symptoms and fix. See if any of the sensors are disconnected.

Wheel speed sensor. Can probably get away with cleaning it up and resoldering any wires that may have broken, but it's probably just wet/dirty. Worst case scenario, they're only a couple hundred $ and easy to fix yourself.

Thanks for all the help! At the dealership now. Believe it was the sensor, and probably due to the water and LOADS of salt on the road the past few weeks. Will let you guys know what the verdict was, but thank God for the 100k Bumper to Bumper Warranty!
