2012 4Runner beeps at me as I turn it on

When I go to start my 4 runner there is a long beep just before it turn over. As soon as its started it goes away and I cannot figure out what is causing it. I had a USB cable connected for a bit to run the Toyota Techstream software to disable the seat belt beep but the problem began before I installed the driver for the software or even connected to it from the laptop.

I don't know if it is related but I can't imagine just plugging a USB cable to the OBDII port without changing anything should cause it. The beep is similar to the one when it's in reverse and something is behind it.

There is no warning light or check engine light that I notice once I start the car. It has a dealer installed remote start that is still functioning and the alarm system still seems to be working normally. I re-shut the hatch to make sure it is shut tight. Any ideas what it could be?

Do you have a limited with the keyless start? Mine has a continuous beep after hitting the button till it starts.

It's an SR5 with a dealer installed remote start. It still uses a regular key and is not a push button start, I just hit lock 3 times and then hold it to remote start it. It also didn't beep as I was starting it before today (that I noticed) which is part of why I am trying to troubleshoot it.

Mine beeps if I have left the sunroof open or a window down the night before.

So when I get in and start it I get one beep telling me something was left open...

Mine beeps if the parking assist system is "on".

Thank you it was the parking assist. There was a picture of a green car in the security box on the dash. I wasn't sure if that was the cause (it was never there before) but when I turned the parking assist off the car went away and the box was empty again .

Me too ... and it is somewhat annoying to have that beep at startup.
