2012 4runner SR5 Clear bra options

Hey guys.

Just bought a new 4runner SR5 with PT package in Metallic Gray. I had a clear bra on my Acura TL before I sold it and it saved me many times! I was wondering who here has one on their 4runner and about how much it costs. Also, if anyone is from Richmond, VA, what company did you use and would you use them again?

The Toyota Dealer Ship that I bough my 4Runner from wanted $1200+ for just a small hood Strip.

A buddy of mine that works for " Jaguar & Land Rover of Tacoma", hooked me up. I was charged $500 for the full front end: Included the mirrors, 2.5' strip on the hood, and all the lights. 3M material was used and I couldn't be happier.

Then he charged me $100 to tint my front windows.

I have installed the 3M paint protection film on my front bumper, grill surround and headlights. I still want to get the hood section. For the front bumper/grill and headlights, I believe I paid somewhere in the $250 neighborhood. I forget what website I bought it from but I did install it myself which saved me some extra money.

I received a quote for $650 in Fort Walton, FL to purchase and install(3M stuff).

I forgot to mention they did the edges of my doors, all the door handle pockets and the front portion of my front fender flares.

I did mine myself. Roughly $100 and I did a terrible job but it's good practice. And I'll probably re do it after a year or so but for $100 bucks... not biggy. Compared to $500?!

And the clear bra will fade and start turning yellow so you'll want to replace it anyway.

I had the clearbra on my Acura for 3 years and it didn't fade. i don't trust myself doing it...just as i dont trust myself doing my own tint. I'll probably get fed up and end up messing it all up! haha

It is definitely not the easiest thing to put on but not as bad as tint as you are on a horizontal surface or at least a surface that is angled away from you not towards you, with respect to gravity being helpful. A window is the opposite. I bought a kit for $150 or so and after about 2 years has not hazed, peeled or turned yellow. My car has many rock chips from the same commute and I don't see any on the T4R. A day without wind is best. Paying someone to put it on is very expensive.

Complete front end
Hood about 24" back from the grill
Fender flares
Bottom side moldings
Inside of door handles

Cost=$1100

Some may say its over priced....but, for me, it was wo;rth every cent....very nice job, professional workmanship and included a lifetime warranty/guaranty

He also did a 33% tint for $60

so apparently Toyota is starting to put the clear bra on at the port from which they are received. They have a list of installers/providers that are pre-approved and will back up the work under the standard warranty. I was told this by my local dealership. Not 100% on the price but will update.

They day I had the 3M film installed, I drove back home to Richmond. I was on 95 and there was tire debris all over the road. The car in front of me somehow kicked up a piece of the tire and it landed right on my hood. There was a little cut on the 3m film, but the paint was fine.

Also, if the word "snow" is mentioned in the forecast, the DOT likes to pre-salt the roads. There have been many instances where you can hear rocks/salt hit the front of the car and yet, no damage at all.

You can literally put your hand on the film and feel where rocks have it. They're not gaping holes or huge cuts by anymeans.

I'm sure other people who have 3M film on their cars will tell you similar.

i found local independant installer quoted me 275 fot all.

Now I'm trying to decide if I want 3m film or Llumar? Llumar is supposed to be thicker and has a lifetime warranty whereas the 3M does not. I have only used 3M in the past and had zero issues.

The tint I am getting will also be Llumar since the shop only uses it.:artist:

I have Llumar clear bra on my 4runner, my dealership started offering it and got it done for a lowest price.

I've had it for a year now and its holding up pretty good. It looks good too because it doesn't have that orange peal finish, it's nice and flat.

Only gripe is the way they cut it for the front end. The template is not tucked or wrapped around the corners. But aside from that it does a good job protecting the front.

if was holding fine until i traded in my ridge for 4runner same film used by installers, same quality, great for the money.
