I have a 2012 With 160,000 miles on it which has had the check engine light come on and off for the past six months. Finally took it into a local auto shop and they told me at least one or more of the catalytic converters are bad. Said I would have to take it back to Toyota and it will probably be very costly. Anyone know any other options? Should I take it to a local muffler shop? My guy said he cleaned it out some but more than likely the issue will pop back up soon. What will happen to it if it is ignored a bit? Thanks..

Have you checked the code ? Checked a/f sensor & o2 sensors ? Easy cheap stuff 1st !!
Shop hooked it up to check code and came back converters. Does discount auto still read codes for free?
