2012 TE Dealer cant install aftermarket alarm system!

So I got a call from my dealer today that is installing my leather and such... He told me their installer doesnt have an alarm system for a 2012 TE. Aparently the harness is different than on a 2011. They were installing a viper remote start with pager... Anyways, I was told the harness was not out or something... Are they just pulling my leg due to lack of knowledge? I cant believe these guys cant put an aftermarket alarm system on my new TE :crybaby:

I remember another thread where the dealer couldn't install something because the '12 wiring was different.

If a plug they need to use is physically different then they might have an issue but should be able to hard wire things bypassing the plug.

If they are saying the wiring (pin-out) of a plug is different then they don't have an installer worth squat. All they should have to do is compare the 2011 schematics against the 2012 ones and rewire the Viper's socket to match the one on the 4R.

I think he said the only way they could have installed it was to hack into the harness... If they did that, toyota would not be able to cover it under the 36k mile 3 year warranty or something to that effect.

That makes sense............ if they don't have the plug and play harness out yet, wire cutting is gonna happen. Your dealer isn't that dumb after all.

Ya it does make sense not splicing into the harness. Hopefully viper gets the memo soon
