2012 Trail Steering Wheel Vibration

I have a 2012 sr5 and have the same issue but mine occurs between 45-55mph. Dealer balanced and all was well til the next day when it came back. Im just living with the problem until I trade this crapper in for something else.

Tires flat spot, try driving a bit further. Modern Toyota IFS are sensitive to lateral imbalance and poor techs/equipment. Trading a vehicle because of tire imbalance is ****ing retarded.

Im not trading it in for only this issue, lets list the many faults... Prop shaft clunk (dealer says no Issue), 45-55mph vibration ( dealer says no issue), Weird Brake Vibration on left side (dealer says brakes fine), Paint chipping away on hatch from spoiler smacking it (dealer says not our problem), Navigation unit made me get off the highway and then put me right back on the highway 5 times near orlando ( Dealer wants to charge for Entune update). All within warranty period and the funniest part of this all they still want to sell me an extended warranty. Umm why the eff would I buy an extended warranty when you dont want to warranty Shit! Toyota quality imho is going down hill, if I wanted issues I should have just bought the Jeep Wrangler. At least the aftermarket support is bigger. /endrant

Prop shaft clunk can be remedied in most cases by greasing the zerk fitting on the slip yoke. The vibrations you describe are almost certainly all tire balance related, you just need to find a shop that does a good job balancing. The spoiler can be fixed with a little double sided tape or RTV silicone. Navigation is probably not an easy fix, other than replacing the head unit.

Sorry your dealer sucks, most of them do, and not just Toyota dealers. You'll have similar (or more) problems with other makes.

Did the shimmy get fixed?

6 times in ,tires shim after rotation mpn a te 4runner, tried balancing no go, replace with new tires still a problem, the bleeding continues, suggested we rotate the backs to the front end shimmy stopped when the back tires got placed on the front. Logic says it was those 2 new tires, so replaced, put them on the front, shimmies back, balanced multiple times, one guy says good, next guy says their out. Shop replaced all 4 with cooper tires, test drove replaced 2 of those tires did wheel alignment, tech says all good now, drove home drove back and now worse than before, shakes everywhere and pulls to one side. They have hunter Road force elite machine with hawkeya flange adapter, New shop next week oh my headache.
