2013 Chime Noise while Driving

This past weekend while driving to Flagstaff, AZ we ran into a light snow storm. I was doing about 55 mph, but wanted to play it safe. I pulled over and put it in 4 wheel low, and once I got up to about 20 mph the 4runner was running horribly and the seat belt chime noise kept sounding.

Ok ok, that's a joke. But honestly driving to Flagstaff, was on the highway for probably 3 hrs averaging 80mph (2 wheel drive), wife and kid in the back seat. Everyone had their seat belts on, and then suddenly the seat belt chime noise started up out of no where. I checked to make sure everyone had their belts on (which we did). The noise would come and go for probably 5 minutes. No other idiot lights came on, but my wife said that it's happened to her in the past as well.

Any advice?

Yes, and I thought about that, but all I had was a sweatshirt on the passenger seat and my wallet. I would hope that wasn't enough to fool it into thinking a person was sitting there un-buckled. I also didn't see that idiot light illuminate when it chimed.

If your wallet is too heavy, check out the Group Buy section of this forum. That should lighten the load enough to stop the sensor thinking there's anything there.

Sometimes if it is dirty inside the seatbelt receiver it can cause issues. If that is not the issue then it's probably a faulty seat sensor.

Buckle up your wallet in the passenger seat and see if that stops the chime.

This has happened to me multiple times. Every time there was something in the seat. I just chalk it up to having a tiny bit of weight in the seat. Most of the time it is something lightweight.

A seat belt extender will fix that.

Just have it turned off ? No chime in mine

I put groceries & backpack on my pass. seat all the time , since turned off chime nothing except on start up :hatsoff:

And if your driving on a back road and hate wearing a seat belt as I do on a slow dirt road ride having the intermittent chime thingy off and not chiming every ten seconds is pure gold. Had the dealer turn mine off.
