2013 Tacoma TRD Springs in an 02 4runner???

I have some 02 tacoma trd springs and shocks in right now, I was just wondering if there is any difference in the newer (new) 13 tacoma. A guy lifted his truck and gave us his old shocks/springs and leaf springs.

Any height difference in old/new?

They are a lot longer but they don't fit our upper shock towers due to the bolt pattern, and the lower bushing size might be different too.

He meant just the springs. They'd probably fit and probably lift some since 2nd gen Tacos are about the same size as a 00-06 Tundra. I almost tried it with some '05 springs off Craigslist that were only 20 bucks, but decided I didn't want to guinea pig my suspension & waste my time if I wasn't happy with the outcome. That being said, give it a try for us!

The spring itself should fit the the 3rd 4runner shocks, we install a pair or 08 TRD Tacoma springs on my cousins 97 4runner and got a little over an inch lift. I took some measurement of the stock 4runner coils and 2nd gen TRD Tacoma coils and the ID, OD and height is about the same (forgot to count coil wrap) but the bar diameter on the Tacoma is thicker. He now has them on blistein 5100 on top notch with about 3.5 inch lift if not more. So yes the 2ng gen Tacoma coil spring will fit our shocks and maybe a substitute for 99 tall coils.

Sorry for reviving old thread. Did you end up Installing the 2013 Taco springs? I wonder how much lift you got and what perch you run these on. Also how does the ride feel?

I found a guy selling them used in good condition.

Im going to buy mine this weekend. The ones I found are yellow-yellow and yellow-white from a TRD Taco 2013. Still looking for good deal on some Tundra 5100s.

I ended up getting up Tundra TRD access cab springs, from the research I have done the Tacoma TRD springs will work and might even be better then the tundras they are slightly higher then stock spring rate and are not as large of a diameter as the Tundra springs, which is good the the Tundras are a pain in the ass to install (on the third perch) mainly due to their large diameter.
I hope the Taco springs work out for you! From what I understand they should give a very similar lift in terms of height to the tundras

My guestimate would be the 2nd perch your going to be running them on Tundra 5100's right? 3rd perch would be closer to or over 3"

Yeah I'll be running them with 5100s. I'll try the second perch.

I wonder if I will need to use the 2013 Tacoma coil isolators or use the stock ones? I know with the Tundra springs you have to since the coils are wider. Not sure if these Taco coils are much wider than stock 4Runner coils.

Edit: I don't have my stock coils to compare. I'm running BOSS COs which are leaking and don't have much life left. Never going Toytec again, only had them for 2 years, 40k kms tops, had them leaking for over a year now... Toytec did not come through with the warranty...

I'm in the beginning of a 97 build. Tacoma 05 springs with tundra 5100's should get 2-3" up front depending on the setting correct? Part number 24-188265 for the strut?

Only one way to find out. Not much info on this out there, I will be attempting soon after I gather all the parts for a full front end rebuild.

I just checked the OME spring rate charts to see what they list stock Tacoma spring rate as and it is possible that it is different for the TRD/double cab but they list the stock spring rate as 500lb-in which would probably be too soft. Again I am not sure if this applies to the TRD model or just a regular 2wd single cab 4cyl Taco, I know I have seen in the 4th gen section images comparing the TRD taco springs to 4th gen 4Runner and FJ springs and they are significantly beefier so I have some doubts about the info from OME

Edit: From reading on Tacoma World it looks like the stock spring rate is 540 and its a 14" coil but some guys over there have been quoting it as 590, 590 would be better suited for the 4runner and is the same as what the 1st gen Tundra TRD springs are

I have installed mine today. So again these are 2013 Tacoma TRD coil springs on Tundra 5100s. Color codes yellow-yellow(driver side and white-yellow. Used stock 4Runner strut mounts. I put the springs on the second perch from the bottom. I'm guessing it will give you about 2.5" of lift since I had 3" and now sits half inch lower. Ride is good, like it better than boss co's although my mechanic said its very stiff. I'm still yet to add a bumper and winch so we'll see if they settle a bit.

Not trying to thread jack, but i have a set of 10" 600 lb coils and 3" threaded collars laying upstairs in my garage from a set of coilovers i had on another car.

Think it would be worth the time to try them on my 97 4runner? Right now it has all the stock suspension under it (looks like original coils). All the PO did was add a set of leveling airbags in the rear coils for when he towed or hauled a hatch full of feed.

Sorry, they are 4.5" threaded collars, not 3"
